NPPL course outline

The National Private Pilots Licence came into effect in July 2002. The NPPL is limited to VFR only in UK registered aircraft only and is restricted to UK airspace.

 

The flight training consists of at least 32 hours flight time as pilot of aeroplanes. Of the 32 hours, a minimum of 22 hours dual training including 1 hour of instrument appreciation and 10 hours solo must be completed. Of the minimum 10 hours solo, a student must complete at least 4 hours of solo cross country flight including one cross country of at least 100nm landing at two other airfields. The Navigation Skill test and General Skill Test are not included in the course hours. The medical requirements are a DVLA group 1 medical to fly solo and a DVLA group 2 to carry passengers.

 

The theory ground examination requirements are the same as for the JAA PPL.
